A wingshooting and big game hunt launched in 1955 by a family of hunters, for hunters.

What type of hunt is available in France?

France is a hunting country by passion as well as tradition. Few types of hunt are being followed in France, adapted to each hunters’ wishes. Legaly speaking, three types of hunts are counted in France: wingshooting, bird and big game hunting and fox hunting. All other types of hunt are not permitted. From those three major types of hunt, multiple principles and processes are followed, depending upon the terrain and the available game. For example, it is possible to hunt in a forest or an open field, alone or with a group of shooters, stalking or walking, during the day, early in the morning or at dusk. Hunts we practice at the Château de Janvry include: driven and walking hunts for bird hunts (pheasants, partridges and ducks) and big game (roe deers, boars, red deers).

What game can we find at Janvry?

We find three main types of game. Small game for wingshooting events: pheasants, partridges and ducks. Small migratory game: pigeons, doves, woodcocks, migratory ducks. Additionally, rabbits, hares, blackbirds or trushes, can also be seen. Big game includes roe deers, red deers and boars.
